How to Care for Your New Plants

Instructions for watering

Check the moisture level of your plants before watering by looking at the top of the soil and feeling a few centimetres down with your finger. If it feels dry, it's time to water. Additionally, you can judge if a plant needs water by lifting it and assessing its weight. When watering during the growing season, use a fertiliser like Growth Technology Foliage Focus and follow the instructions on the bottle for the appropriate strength for your plant's stage. Remember to decrease watering and feeding during the winter.


Potting plants in decorative pots
After receiving your plants, it's best to let them adjust to their new environment for a few weeks. If you choose to repot into a decorative pot, wait at least 2 weeks and use a pot with drainage holes and a saucer. Alternatively, you can keep the plants in their nursery pots and use cover pots for styling.

Anthurium Plant Care
Light: Medium to bright, indirect light. Keep out of direct light.
Water: Keep the medium slightly moist but not wet as they don’t like being soggy. Wait until the top 5cm of soil is dry, then water thoroughly. Don’t let your plant sit in water, or they will rot.
Temperature: 18deg and above. Keep them away from cold drafts, air conditioning, and heating vents as they’re cold-sensitive.
Humidity: Over 60%

Fertiliser: Feed with a liquid fertiliser in the growing months such as the Growth Technology Foliage Focus. 

Begonia Plant Care
Light: Medium to bright, indirect light. Keep out of direct light.
Water: Water when the top 5cm of soil is dry, then water thoroughly. Don’t let your plant sit in water, or they will rot. Avoid getting the leaves wet.
Temperature: 18deg and above.
Humidity: Over 60%
Medium: Aroid Mix
Fertiliser: Feed with a liquid fertiliser in the growing months such as the Growth Technology Foliage Focus. 


Epipremnum Plant Care
Light: Medium to bright, indirect light. Keep out of direct light.
Water: Keep the medium slightly moist but not wet as they don’t like being soggy. Wait until the top 5cm of soil is dry, then water thoroughly. Don’t let your plant sit in water, or they will rot.
Temperature: 18deg and above. Keep them away from cold drafts, air conditioning, and heating vents as they’re cold-sensitive.

Water: Keep the medium slightly moist but not wet as they don’t like being soggy. Wait until the top few centermetre of soil is dry, then water thoroughly. Don’t let your plant sit in water, or they will rot.
Temperature: 18deg and above.
Humidity: Over 60%

Fertiliser: Feed with a half-strength liquid fertiliser such as the Growth Technology Orchid Focus in the growing months.

Monstera Plant Care
Light: Medium to bright, indirect light. Keep out of direct light.
Water: Water when the top 5cm of soil is dry, then water thoroughly. Don’t let your plant sit in water, or they will rot.
Temperature: 18deg and above.
Humidity: Normal room humidity around 60%

Philodendron Plant Care

Sansevieria Plant Care
Light: Medium to bright, indirect light. Keep out of direct light.
Water: Do not over water. These plants are drought tolerant. Wait until the top 5cm of soil is dry, then water thoroughly. Don’t let your plant sit in water or mist them, or they will rot.
Temperature: 18deg and above. Keep them away from cold drafts, air conditioning, and heating vents as they’re cold-sensitive.
Humidity: Over 60%

Spathiphyllum Plant Care
Light: Medium to bright, indirect light. Keep out of direct light.

Temperature: 16deg and above.
Humidity: Over 60%

Syngonium Plant Care
Light: Medium to bright, indirect light. Keep out of direct light.
Water: Keep the medium slightly moist but not wet, as they don’t like being soggy. Wait until the top 5cm of soil is dry, then water thoroughly. Keep leaves dry. Don’t let your plant sit in water, or they will rot.
Temperature: 18deg and above.
Humidity: Over 60%
Medium: Aroid Mix
Fertiliser: Feed with a liquid fertiliser in the growing months such as the Growth Technology Foliage Focus. 
Tip: If new leaves begin reverting to full green or full white, cut back to the last node that produced good variegation. It will encourage new growth from stems with stronger variegation.

Tradescantia Plant Care
Light: Medium to bright, indirect light. Keep out of direct light.
Water: Keep the medium slightly moist but not wet as they don’t like being soggy. Wait until the top 5cm of soil is dry, then water thoroughly. Don’t let your plant sit in water, or they will rot.
Pinch back leggy stems to encourage new, fuller growth.
Temperature: 18deg and above. Keep them away from cold drafts, air conditioning, and heating vents as they’re cold-sensitive.
Humidity: Over 60+%
