What To Do When Your Plant Arrives?
These tips apply to all new arrivals, but are especially helpful when your indoor plant comes through the post.
Your new plant is finally here, and while it’s tempting to fuss over it, the best thing you can do right now is... not much at all.
We know how exciting it is to open a box of green goodness, but plants need time to settle in after their journey. Here’s exactly what to do (and what to avoid) when your order arrives.
Quick Tips
✅ Leave your plant in its current pot
✅ Place it in a warm, bright spot with good airflow
✅ Avoid direct sunlight for the first few days
✅ Keep humidity steady if you can (around 60–70% is ideal)
✅ Only water if the mix is completely dry
✅ Reach out if you’re unsure
🌿 Let It Settle
Unless your plant looks very dry or unwell, don’t water it straight away. We prepare your plant with the right amount of moisture before it leaves us, so it likely won’t need a drink for at least a week.
Higher humidity can also help your plant recover from its journey. If you can, place it somewhere warm with steady humidity — around 60–70% is ideal. A simple humidity tray, grouping plants together, or placing it near other plants can make a big difference without needing fancy setups.
Here’s how to check if your plant needs water:
-
Gently press your finger into the soil about a knuckle deep.
-
If it feels damp, leave it alone and check again in a few days.
-
If it’s bone dry, follow our chart below to rehydrate safely.
🪴 Don’t Repot Yet
We know you might have a beautiful pot ready, but trust us — repotting too soon is one of the easiest ways to stress a plant. Let it acclimate for at least 2 weeks in its original pot before making any changes.
📸 Notice Something Off?
If your plant doesn’t look quite right on arrival, take photos straight away and contact us within 24 hours.
Sometimes cosmetic damage can happen in transit, but leaves that look rough can still help your plant recover.
🗺️ Not Sure What to Do Next?
We’ve created an easy-to-follow visual guide below to help you navigate what’s normal and what needs attention. It covers everything from yellow leaves to soil moisture and root checks, with clear actions for each situation.
Let your plant adjust, take it slow, and you’ll be rewarded with healthy new growth in no time.
