Rhaphidophora korthalsii 'Shingling plant'

$39.95
Description

Rhaphidophora korthalsii is a true standout in any rare aroid collection, known for its dramatic shingling growth habit. When given a vertical surface to climb, its thick, glossy leaves press flat against the substrate, mimicking natural growth up tree trunks in the wild. As the plant matures, the leaves increase in size and can eventually develop fenestrations if allowed to climb freely. These plants are perfect for terrariums, cabinets, or mounted boards. Best suited to experienced collectors, this species prefers high humidity, warm temperatures, and consistently moist (but not soggy) substrate. A stunning species that rewards patience and the right conditions.

Care Guide

Light: Bright, indirect light. Keep out of direct light.

Water: Keep the medium slightly moist but not wet, as they don’t like being soggy. Wait until the top 5cm of soil is dry, then water thoroughly. Don’t let your plant sit in water, or they will rot.

Temperature: 18deg and above. Keep them away from cold drafts, air conditioning, and heating vents, as they’re cold-sensitive.

Humidity: Normal humidity around 60%

Medium: Aroid Mix

Fertiliser: Feed with a liquid fertiliser in the growing months.

Rhaphidophora korthalsii require a support to grow up in order to thrive.

Please Note

Unless stated, plants are shipped in their nursery pots, as shown in the photos.

Minor blemishes or imperfections on foliage are normal and do not affect plant health. Each plant is unique, so size, colour, and shape may vary slightly.

Please choose carefully — some plants may be toxic to people or pets if ingested.

Decorative pots and plants are sold separately.
