Description

Alocasia baginda 'Dragon Scale' is a highly sought after Alocasia known for its thick, textured leaves that resemble reptile skin or dragon scales. The foliage is a soft silvery green with very dark green veins that create a dramatic, almost armoured appearance. Leaves are thick and slightly cupped, giving the plant a sculptural look even when small. This is a compact growing Alocasia that suits indoor shelves, cabinets and bright indoor positions with higher humidity. A great choice for collectors who enjoy unusual foliage plants with heavy texture and strong contrast.

Care Guide

Light
Bright indirect light is best. Alocasia can handle some gentle morning sun but avoid strong direct afternoon sun as it can burn the leaves and fade the colour.

Water
Keep the soil lightly moist but not wet. Allow the top of the mix to dry slightly between watering. Alocasia do not like to dry out completely but they also do not like sitting in soggy soil.

Temperature
Prefers warm conditions between 18 and 28°C. Protect from cold temperatures and draughts, especially in winter.

Humidity
Alocasia prefer higher humidity, ideally above 60 percent. Higher humidity helps prevent brown leaf edges and encourages larger leaves.

Medium
Use a very well draining chunky mix. A blend of orchid bark, perlite, coco coir or peat and a small amount of potting mix works well. The roots need airflow and good drainage.

Fertiliser
Feed during the warmer growing months with a foliage fertiliser at a reduced strength. Reduce feeding during winter when growth slows.

Please Note

Unless stated, plants are shipped in their nursery pots, as shown in the photos.

Minor blemishes or imperfections on foliage are normal and do not affect plant health. Each plant is unique, so size, colour, and shape may vary slightly.

Please choose carefully — some plants may be toxic to people or pets if ingested.

Decorative pots and plants are sold separately.
